I would like to suggest some ways to continue to practice skills and continue to develop life long learning habits throughout the summer. One advantage to summer learning is that it can be part of explorations outside of the classroom. Writing about summer adventures and camps in journals, reading on vacation and in outside settings and practicing problem solving in everyday living are a few. For those rainy days, students will still have access to SpellVocab City and TenMarks. The access codes are in the folders they brought home. You may also contact me anytime over the summer if you need access codes. The district has already transferred the RazKids accounts to incoming second graders so that resource will no longer be available from APS. However, my website is another good resource for online activities and resources. This week the Robbins and Fox librarians came to share their summer reading program. We sent home information and it is also available on line. Even if you do not participate the library program, libraries are a great place to visit on a hot summer day. Most importantly, summer is a great time to do a special family project or find a way to help out in the community. The Stay Sharp folder I sent home also has more ideas.
I look forward to seeing you around town and next year! Have a wonderful summer.
