It has been great getting to know your children! We have been sharing information about ourselves during morning meetings and partner talks. We have been practicing our routines and are most excited about our new responsibilities in the lunchroom. The children are showing a lot of independence! Ask the children about our classroom rules and how they have been doing their best! We are fortunate to have a Teacher Assistant named April Farmer working with our class this year. We also have a Lesley student joining us on Wednesdays. Her name is Aislinn Donovan. Thank you so much for responding to the request to stay off the sidewalks, as much as possible, during dismissal. There has been more room for students to exit and see you as you spread out in the driveway. We have not started any formal homework routine, but I have reminded the children of the importance of daily reading activities. This includes being read to, reading the pictures a book and listening to reading. I especially like the RazKids app for listening because the words are highlighted as the child follows along. This gives spelling support as well as increased word recognition. Our class account is aabbott6. The children know the temporary password. I have not assigned specific levels of reading yet. They really seem to be enjoying exploring. Read the world too! Street signs, posters and packaging are a few things to notice when out and about. I read a lot at the grocery store! I am looking forward to meeting you on Curriculum night. Follow us on Twitter @aabbott65, so you can get a sneak peek into our daily activities.
