We have had a great start to our new year! During these past 14 day we have developed some great routines and behavior expectations with the support of Open Circle, Responsive Classroom and Tools of the Mind curriculum. Stratton and the district are supporting the important idea of making sure the learning community feels socially and emotionally prepared as we explore academic content. Students have been very flexible and understanding about the morning snack policy. We continue to make changes that make our snack fit well with our other activities. As much as possible, please try to send one food item each day that has only fruit or vegetable ingredients, a dairy item such as yogurt or cheese or a combination of both. Students can eat whatever they want in the lunchroom. Ask your child to explain why we have this policy. We will discuss this more at curriculum night. In the past I have created short videos to share parts of out school day. These have been popular with both students and their families. They are a nice way to facilitate conversations about "how school is going..." I included one above. The students have not seen it yet, so please take a few minutes to talk about it with your child. This year I am hoping to get the children more involved in the creation of these updates. If you would like to be part of the class email list please send me an email from the email address you would like added. Dear Room Seven Families,
We had a great first day in second grade! We spent most of our day organizing materials and becoming familiar with the room and each other. Ask your child what they learned about a friend today. Thank you for all the supplies! Below is some more important information about second grade.
